I’ve played many empire building strategy games like Sid Meijer’s Civilizations series, Humankind, Old World, Millennia, and so on. You know what mechanic isn’t in any of them that I know of? One of your empire’s vassal states dragging you into a world war thanks to their endless desires to expand their borders. That your empire could become subjugated to one of your own vassal states is not something I think any empire building strategy game has implemented. That’s unique to our situation in real life it seems. We can endlessly simulate building all sorts of empires, but nobody ever imagined the empire being subjugated and ruled by a vassal state.
Conversely, I don’t know of any strategy games that lets you play as a supposed vassal state while you increase your influence over the empire’s various forms of industry and expand your control over their political and legal framework until you’re essentially ruling the empire from the shadows and puppeteering it’s leaders into doing whatever you think suits your vassal state’s agendas. That could be an interesting video game to play.

I believe he and others are correct if they think certain individuals are bigoted and only care if white people are targeted and attacked. I just don’t believe it’s fair to then extend that to the majority of others. It feels akin to how when Ben Shapiro and certain others exposed themselves as hypocrites on the Israel issue, it was then extended to many on the right that they are now hypocrites too because Ben Shapiro’s an obvious grifting charlatan. Just because certain prominent people let their masks slip on occasion, it doesn’t make sense to use that as justification to paint everyone who shares a viewpoint with them as also being insincere in their stated beliefs. Russell and many others on the left know this cause they’re the first to point it out when someone tries using TYT or people with MSNBC contracts to say everyone on the left is a lying hypocrite. I just wish they could see it when it’s being done to others.
