MMT is obviously correct and libertarians and conservatives have been saying it would lead to economic collapse forever. Talk to one of them instead of people selling Bitcoin and gold, and who compare the US to a US household. The difference between the US government and a household is that the US government can print money in the current global reserve currency. I can’t. That’s illegal for me to do.
If the government wanted to invest in national rejuvenation and the people who live here, it easily could. It chooses to give all that money to rich and connected people, and it uses the public’s intuitions on these issues to get away with it.

france already sent troops into ukraine, russia said it will prioritize taking them out. david cameron said ukraine can use storm shadow missiles to strike any russian target. this is a concern since ukraine targets cafe’s, malls and playgrounds. russia has said if ukraine strikes inside russia with a storm shadow, russia will strike THE UK.
scott ritter said the atmosphere is such that any f-16 will be treated as though its carrying a nuke and the american strategy will not be allowed. the american strategy was fly the f-16 into ukraine and land, ukraine pilot gets in and ammo loaded, f-16 takes off and attacks russia and can be shot down by russia but if it makes it back, nato pilot gets back in and flys back to say romania for maintenance. russia is now saying hah, fuck you, if we see a f-16 it gets shot down, we dont give a fuck who’s flying it. Then, if say an f-16 enters ukraine from romania, russia will also bomb or tactically nuke the romanian air field.

even with the best of best credit available in canada line of credits are 14% and credit cards are 24%, and if any one debt tool (credit line or card) gets more than 35-50% full credit scores will drop and insurance rates, mortgage rates etc will go up because in canada insurance, mortgage, life insurance etc are all affected by credit score. no idea why.

ubi i like because it restores dignity to people and simplifies govt administraton, give everyone 15 or 20 k, i think finland gives everyone 30k, and get rid of all the piecemeal funding programs like old age security and so on. equalize society, you get the money regardless if you have a brain or not, but everyone gets treated equitably. bill gates wont care if you give him 20k and he has to pay back 20k because he makes too much, there’s no ei applications or food stamps for people, simplified tax code and tools like negative income tax or others to balance costs make the net cost is way lower than media propoganda suggests, if you stop criminalizing pot possession ubi would be cost neutral just from that. just citizens and permanent residents.
Then i found out WEF has been a proponent of ubi since at least 2018 so now I’m worried about what’s wrong with my thinking.
You want a way for govt to limit immigrants, start having them to do math against if we flood the country with immigrants no citizen will be able to work.
I started thinking about ubi because lazy fucks who dont want to work already dont work… or they break into your house to steal shit for their next meth fix. i know a 50yr old who lives with his mom because he’s lazy to work. he exists with or without ubi. i grew up homeless and got a good job and work for a pension, I exist with or without ubi. i dont want the lazy fuck breaking into my car to steal my phone to sell for a spoonful of meth. I’d rather pay more taxes for my safety but interesting ubi is easy to make cost neutral. people like me who want to work will work, just like i do now, but i can buy a car or travel or hire a plumber to do some work. however im trapped in my job, trapped in my career, trapped geographically and if i get hurt and cant do my job, im fucked.
giving people dignity and removing stigma’s like welfare or food stamps and judgemental debates about ‘who works harder’… ubi would improve societal connections.
ubi might remove the need for dumpster diving communities forming for SURVIVAL, that’s important.
i think a way to balance ubi and still fuck wef is make the ubi very low. Canada did ubi experiement in the 70s in manitoba and found that people stayed in school longer, got better jobs, unemployment rates lowered, healthcare costs lowered, mental health issues lowered, stresses around childcare lowered, so you have less social costs, more people employed and educated.
Then reading Johan Hari’s book about the war on drugs (Chasing the Scream) and how portugal decriminalized drug use and removed the social stigma against drug users and homeless changing the social view as getting help instead of judging them, restore their dignity, re-include them in society, crime rates plummetted. Look up Sweden as well, drugs legal and you get free coke from the govt, medical grade, FREE, twice a day, they went from people being beaten and robbed in crowded public streets to safe streets in less than 5 years. Imagine that.

Everything you say about the Fed isn’t true. The Fed doesn’t just print money. It keeps a balance sheet of how much it owes and it just doesn’t disappear. So previously when the banks were given money, they had to pay that money back until they did it was kept on the balance sheets of the Fed, and when they paid it back, it was taken off the Fed’s balance sheet.

I think unions are in decline for much the same reason as the 2 major parties. They sold out the people they’re supposed to be representing in order to personally enrich themselves and pursue their own interests and career goals. I personally can’t stand that it’s illegal for you to withhold your funds from a bad union you think is selling you out. Why is that allowed? Why would someone wanna work at a place with a union that takes money out of their checks and offers them nothing in return?
For example, I can say for a fact that Kroger’s union offers nothing of value for what they take in union dues. There’s no accrual rate for paid time off, just as an example. I got that as a state employee at a state university without a union. I got just as much enforcement of company policies and laws and representation from the HR department of the university as I’ve gotten from a union rep, their boss, or the district HR manager at Kroger (which is of course to say effectively none at all.) I got bonuses and regular yearly raises (sometimes surprise raises) from the university. I didn’t get a raise thru Kroger’s union from December 4, 2022 til March 4, 2024 and it was $.35 an hour. I never had payroll issues with the university (or any job for that matter), but with Kroger, I had to file a grievance to get a company policy made for how night shift employees who work Saturday nights (the last day of their work week) got paid out for those hours cause they kept switching them around on which check I’d be paid for them and I never knew how much I was going to get paid each week anymore and one time I think it screwed me out of overtime. I’m still waiting for money missing from the vacation week I took earlier this year and for an explanation on what “overtime premium blended pay” is and why it’s less than my regular hourly wage and being paid out at half the normal rate-and it’s been 4 months since I first brought it to their attention and tried to follow up with them about it. My union rep’s boss and the district HR manager have both ignored my last 2 texts/emails about money missing from my checks that I’m owed for nearly 4 months now. That’s what it’s like dealing with my union at Kroger, anyway. They’re awful and they’re worse than an HR department that works to sweep things under the rug to help the organization save face and keep problems hushed up about rather than solved and/or future ones prevented. At least the HR department doesn’t visibly take a cut out of my check each week while they tell me they’re not going to do anything for me-and also tell me I should be grateful to them for how much they offer me by being at the company.
